CV TIPS

Your Curriculum Vitae (CV) is the document you will use to represent yourself to potential employers. It articulates who you are, where you have been, what you've accomplished and what you can do.

Prospective employers will see your CV before they see you. The will use your CV to make judgements. Your goal will be to make your CV as effective as possible. To do that, there are two things to keep in mind:

  • Present the facts about yourself in a way that will be most appealing to your future employer. You may be the best candidate for a practice but may not get the chance to interview if your CV does not publicize that fact. Your CV is the place to highlight your strengths and accomplishments, skills and talents. A good CV will help a decision-maker decide in your favor.

  • Make your CV as straightforward as possible. Try to use "white space" generously to help draw the reader's eye to important information. Use a font that is easy to read. Compose your CV so that is looks crisp and professional. Always use white or light colored so that it will be east to photocopy.
